Household witch spirit that rewards care and viciously punishes neglect
The Kikimora is a household spirit from Slavic folklore, feared for creeping through homes in the dead of night. Often described as a thin, twisted woman with tangled hair and hollow eyes, she was said to emerge from behind stoves, beneath floorboards, or inside forgotten corners of old houses. A peaceful home could keep her calm, but disorder and neglect invited her wrath. Villagers blamed the Kikimora for terrifying nightmares, broken tools, tangled thread, and strange whispers heard after midnight while families slept.
