Wendigo

Starved spirit that grows stronger with every act of consumption

Origin Algonquian Folklore
Creature Type Spirit
Ability Endless Hunger
Lore

The Wendigo is a terrifying spirit from Algonquian folklore, associated with insatiable hunger, winter, greed, and cannibalism. Legends describe it as a gaunt skeletal creature stalking frozen forests beneath endless snowstorms, driven by a hunger that can never be satisfied. Some stories claim humans who committed acts of cannibalism or overwhelming greed could transform into Wendigos themselves, losing all trace of humanity. Across generations, the creature became a chilling warning about excess, desperation, and the darkness that can consume the human soul during the harshest winters.
