The Zhenniao is a deadly bird from Chinese mythology, feared for the lethal poison carried within its feathers and body. Ancient legends claimed that anything touched by the creature, including food or drink contaminated by its feathers, would perish almost instantly. Emperors and nobles supposedly feared assassination through poison linked to the Zhenniao’s unnatural power. Though rarely seen in folklore, the bird became a symbol of hidden death and silent danger, carrying destruction upon its wings wherever it appeared.
